Welcome to my Friday issue of Peak Performers, sharing my latest high-impact highlights and practical tips to help you stand out, lead with confidence, and land better opportunities.

No one will see you as “more senior” if you talk like you need permission.

You don’t have to wait for the title.
You do have to show up like someone who’s already operating at that level.

Most people undersell themselves with humble, safe language like:​
→ “I support…”
→ “I help with…”
→ “I’ve only been in this role for…”

Sure, it sounds polite, but it also sounds junior. Instead, try this:

“While my title is [current title], I’ve consistently operated at a higher level by leading [project or initiative]. That includes [strategic work or decision-making], cross-functional leadership across [teams], and direct accountability for [key business results]. I’ve built a strong track record of driving outcomes that align with [company priorities], and I’m focused on continuing to expand that impact.”

This positioning seeds your readiness for the next level, without having to spell it out. This template is great whether you're:

→ Interviewing for a higher role
→ Talking to leadership about taking on an expanded scope
→ Presenting in rooms where people may underestimate your level
→ Trying to shift perception before a promotion cycle

Pro tip: The fastest way to sound more senior is to talk less about what you do and more about what your work enables. Stop describing tasks. Start describing business impact.
