There's a thin line between those who seemingly never catch a break and those who, like magnets, attract countless opportunities.

We all hear these types of comments (or worse, say them to ourselves):

→ I just can't catch a break!
→ I've been passed on, or ghosted by, every interview opportunity I've applied for.
→ How does she/he always seems to secure that dream job/raise/promotion/recognition?

The "surface area of luck" concept suggests that our chances of encountering luck aren't entirely left to fate. So what exactly do the 'lucky ones' do differently?

For starters, they look for the next move, the next chance. They believe by doing more stuff, trying new things, they're upping their chances for good stuff to happen. It's like they're making themselves a bigger target for luck to hit. They're always out there, talking about what they're doing, sharing their dreams.

So broaden your mindset, grow curious and welcome conversations and experiences you'd otherwise rarely consider; make yourself so visible and valuable that opportunities can't help but find you.

🍿 Watch this (YouTube): Aicha Evans, CEO of Zoox, is an absolutely inspiring woman who in 2020 sold her company to Amazon for $1.3 billion. Insightful and soft-spoken, she shares timeless principles that guide her leadership. Most interestingly in this interview is how candid and vulnerable she is on the importance of executive coaching as one rises in his/her career (see 12:50 onwards).

🍿 Watch this (YouTube): Do you know your why? Mel Robbins provides clarity on how to understand your motivation and why it is so crucial for goal achievement. A great podcast episode to help you achieve your goals.

🎉 Client celebration of the week

I'm celebrating my client who received a personal phone call from the President of her company to specifically tell her what a great job she's doing in her new role! Having previously dealt with both toxic bosses and toxic workplaces, she had been struggling to get past the PTSD effects of that and rebuild her confidence. So this win is not only huge in terms of her visibility, but also represents a major breakthrough in taking back control of her career success!
